My Persuasive Thesis

Published by four14 under Uncategorized

In the novel Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, Steve’s verdict was not guilty. I’m part of the jury for the case of Steve Harmon being charged with 1st degree murder. What I think is that he is innocent or not guilty. In the next 3 paragraphs I’m going to tell you why that’s what I’m thinking. I’m going to tell you all about the book Monster. Steve Harmon can’t be guilty because he wasn’t even in the store when the robbery happened. This is the most important part of the case because if he wasn’t in the store when the robbery happened, he couldn’t of shot Mr. Nesbitt. Also, Bobo Evans and King confessed that they were in the store and shot Mr. Nesbitt and also got something to eat minutes after they killed Mr. Nesbitt. The prosecutors and the people were asking them if they did that and they told them that they did.
King and Bobo Evans told Steve to give them a signal if there was any po-po or if there wasn’t any. He didn’t even do that for them and he only bought some mints. Even when the robbery went down he wasn’t there. so, he couldn’t of pulled the trigger of the gun that killed Mr.Nesbitt. My verdict of this case between Steve Harmon against State is not guilty.

I think Steve is not guilty because he only bought some mints before they robbed the store. Also, Detective Karyl testified there were no fingerprints at the crime scene. Steve also was not part of the plan to rob the store and kill Mr. Nesbitt. Then, the parts that say that he’s guilty is saying that Bolden and Zinzi were looking for a deal. They also said that they I.D. Bobo as part of the robbery. Osvaldo[14 years old] is not on trial but was scared into doing the robbery and people said he was guilty. But, he testified that ”Bobo” Evans and Steve Harmon were involved in the murder of Mr. Nesbitt. My Vertict is that Steve is not guilty.
